These Natural Rocks are Examples of Lapis Lazuli

These pretty Blue rocks are examples of Lapis Lazuli, some of the rarest rocks on earth. The beautiful Blue veining in particular makes them extremely attractive and unique. Using combinations of our Cobalt Blue pigment, we can match these Blue veins in concrete.

Three or four batches of different colored concrete, when layered and added to a mold separately, can create pieces of concrete that look like Lapis Lazuli. We can supply all the pigments and formulas for each of these batches.

The Blue batch is key and will need to use Cobalt Blue 11L636 and Micro Blue RS as well as our high performance dry admixture MegaMAx TZ. Call us for dosage information and instructions. (404) 964-0003

BlueStone Concrete Shades

Cobalt Blue Pigment does not always need to be used as a single pigment in concrete. As you can see, about 8 different colors are found in this BlueStone. Use Cobalt Blue Pigment, ideally BlueStone 11L747 as a base formula, usually in the 2.0 - 3.0% loading range. Then by adding various amounts of our Iron Oxides including Beige, Brown and Tan, you can shift the Blue color and make it much more subtle and natural in tone.

The beauty of using Cobalt Blue Pigment at 75% of the formula makes the concrete batch even MORE affordable. Only 3/4 of the batch cost is now Cobalt Blue Pigment. Much lower cost Iron Oxides are being used to shift the concrete color into all of the above Natural BlueStone Shades.

And of course we can help create the formulas. Contact Murray Clarke at (404) 964-0003 or email murray@clarkecolors.com

Blue Concrete: Affordable and diverse concrete color option

Blue Concrete is not out of reach for a concrete producer or homeowner to make. While it is a bit more expensive, it is not cost prohibitive.

Far too many Concrete projects over the past 25 years have NOT been colored Blue because the source of the Cobalt Blue Pigment was way overpriced by pigment suppliers.

Phone any concrete producer around the country and ask for Blue colored Concrete. The vast majority will either talk you out of it or will price it to be so expensive, you'll change your mind and have Brown or Beige or Tan colored concrete. Well, those days are over. We can help with our Cobalt Blue Pigment.

Blue Concrete can be made into a very diverse range of designer Blue shades.

More and more Concrete Pavingstone Manufacturers are now making BlueStone colored concrete pavers, retaining walls and steps.

Look at all the paint companies range of exterior paint colors for exterior projects. Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore etc. Most of the color palettes will have some shade of Blue. Concrete for a walkway, driveway, back patio, even streetscape can contain shades of Blue Concrete.

Cobalt Blue Pigment, when used alone, is a nice color, but often far too bright for most designers, architects and homeowners. That's why we have hundreds of formulas which blend Cobalt Blue pigment with various Iron Oxides and other pigments to both shift the color to more neutral shades like BlueStone, AND also reduce the premium to color the concrete.

Here are two examples adding Black or Brown Pigment to shade the Cobalt Blue.

Teal Shift

Purple Shift

A 60 or 80 LB bag of Concrete Mix can be tinted with as little as 1/2 LB of all these Cobalt Blue Pigments.
Or add 1 Part of Black, Brown or Buff to 4 Parts of any of the Cobalt Blue Pigments to create a natural range of Bluestone shades.

Many more examples of various shades of Blue Concrete are possible and affordable.
